From burgers and chips to steaks and truffle mac and cheese! A real treat for the taste buds and its all on a budget!

Dublin was a city where you could base your whole day around food and drink ... as I usually do. With a pub on every street day drinking was a must do and nothing goes better with day drinking than mouth watering food. This post will explore the top 5 places that I demolished food. I've also added a handy dandy price rating system along side each place we ate at one £ being cheap and ££££ being expensive.

1. Featherblade - ££

Featherblade doesn't look like much from the outside with a small (but decorative) glass exterior and thick curtains but it goes with the saying great things come in small packages. The interior of the restaurant was simple again but somehow perfectly filled the room with a warm and welcoming feel, like you were part of a little secret.

The menu just like the shop front simple minimal choice but when a restaurant has little on the menu you know they cook it well and boy did they. I order 9oz Featherblade steak with herb, garlic and chilli sauce adding the garlic prawns and a side of truffle mac n cheese. The food was presented again in a very simple style; steak, sauce, salad and separate dish for the mac n cheese. The separate sides makes it very easy to share side dishes if you fancied another option on the menu. We also had the broccoli side and although I'm not normally a veggi person, it was something iI could eat over and over again. The food was very good with every mouthful blowing my mind. The menu said " all our beef is 100% grass fed irish" if i had the choice I would have every steak this way. If you want to blow your mind further I would order a local gin and tonic. All this food and all at a reasonable price.

2. Kokoro Ramen Bar - ££

The Ramen bar the first place I ate in Dublin and it set standards high. I love ramen anyway but this really was amazing. It looks like a normal take away shop from the front but you walk towards the back to get seated and it just keeps going it even has a secret basement. The menu provides so many different types of ramen along with tempting sides. I indulged myself with a Chinese pork and won ton ramen with a side of Gyoza accompanied with an Asahi beer. It is definitely worth a try even if you are not the biggest fan of Ramen. Mols had "Garlic Lovers" as she herself is a self proclaimed garlic queen. Her feedback was silence whilst eating ... we all know thats a good sign.

3. The riddler - ££

No not the supervillain that appears in DC comics! The riddler restaurant is a good place for a quick lunch. I stopped here whilst on the way to the Guinness tour and its one of the best pit stops I have ever taken. Its a small cafe like restaurant with fun decorations, quite unassuming until you try the food. The best part for me was the black wall at the back of the restaurant that is covered in riddles, very fitting! What kind of tree can you carry in your hand? While I let you ponder over that one... I had a chicken burger and chips accompanied with a carlsberg (sorry Dublin I just don't like guinness enough) It was delicious! I would 100% recommend for any meal and its all for a very good price. Mols had the pork belly sandwich, again delicious.

4. Salamanca Tapas Bar - £££

We found this place completely by accident and my god it was an amazing find. We took a chance and went in without a table previously booked. We were seated at a table within minutes, we thought the service here was some of the best we experienced in Dublin. The interior is very traditionally Spanish and really transported you to a warm summers evening sipping on G+T's in a small Spanish village. I started the night with a Gin and tonic of course! Then we ordered 5 dishes between two. It was filling, flavoursome and just a pure a joy to eat. 100% recommend, this may have been our favourite place.

5. Brother Hubbard - £

Brother Hubbard breakfasts are renowned in Dublin and we had heard A LOT of hype before we ventured over the river on our last day. Expectations were high and we were not disappointed. After scoring our first win by missing the famous Brother Hubbard queue by minutes we sat down and shared a pot of breakfast tea whilst browsing the menu. I ordered the Turkish Eggs Menemen and Mols had the Brother Hubbard Avo and Eggs. Both look stunning, almost too good to eat - almost being the key word here. Worth wandering over to, but I would get there early as the queue builds quickly! Worth any wait in my opinion.
